We grew, and are still growing, up in 'smokey city' Salford in the north west of the UK. Each Saturday, on our regular pilgrimages to watch our favourite football team we walked by Salford docks, and it was, to put it bluntly, a bit rough to say the least! Particularly No 9 dock which was where The Dockers’ Club was. That part of our town is now known as “Salford Quays” - home to Media City, The BBC and The Lowry Theatre. How posh is that? We’ve watched in wonder as it transformed over the last 20 years or so. So this song is about Salford’s changing skyline but it’s probably about your town as well. Changing … for the better…. maybe!
